Wightman & Sons are situated at the foot of the Paardeberg Mountain in the Swartland region of the Western Cape, South Africa. The vineyards comprise of non-irrigated bush vines grown in decomposed granite soils. There are 6 different cultivars covering 24 hectares with the oldest block planted in 1965.
The farm called Môrelig was purchased by the Wightman family in 2011 as a new venture with the launch of our first vintage being in 2015. Our wines are made with minimal intervention using grapes grown sustainably. Our philosophy is to keep it simple and to express the terroir of the soil. The journey of our wine starts in the vineyards by farming with minimal impact on the environment which enhances the character of our wines. We are members of the Swartland Independent Producers, a group of like-minded winemakers sharing a similar ideology.
