Ayama Wines, home to SA's 1st Vermentino, is owned by Italian couple Attilio & Michela, making wine expressed from the unique terroir of the Voor-Paardeberg, one of the newest wine appellations declared as producing distinctive wines of significant quality. Ayama, isiXhosa for someone to lean on, is home to 62ha of vineyards, 2.5ha pears, 9ha olives, 2ha artichokes & 4ha special wheat & vegetables.
It was a beautiful sunny day when we first saw the farm. It was love at first sight: we knew this place was special and would mean so much to us. Both passionate about agriculture and wine, proudly Italian but in love with South Africa, with its history, its people and its awesome natural environment, we were looking for a farm to buy and live.
