In celebration of the harvest, the Stellenbosch Cabernet Collective (SCC) will host an event of particular magnificence on the private lawns of the iconic Stellenbosch estate, Rust en Vrede, on the 21st March 2020. The Harvest Celebration marks the launch of a new campaign bringing forward integration between Stellenbosch and its most renowned varietal. In the context of South African wine the two are synonymous: to love Stellenbosch is to love Cabernet, and to love Cabernet is to love Stellenbosch. The Stellenbosch Cabernet Collective invites proponents of the varietal to join in the inaugural celebration.
Under the iconic 300 year Oak trees, guests will enjoy an inspired harvest-themed lunch – prepared by Executive Chef, Fabio Daniel, from the renowned Rust en Vrede Restaurant and complimented by an exclusive selection of Cabernet Sauvignon magnum bottles from the 29 SCC members. Hosted by some of the most highly regarded Winemakers in the industry, the day promises a bespoke food and wine experience in a relaxed atmosphere with the legends of Cabernet.
Each of the 29 Stellenbosch Cabernet Collective member wineries has specially selected vintages from their collections to be poured throughout the afternoon, all in magnum format. Most of these wines have been specially bottled for the occasion and member winemakers will be there to engage with the guests and informally converse about the wines on offer.
“We wanted an opportunity to show like-minded Cabernet lovers what Stellenbosch has to offer, in a way that really allows them the opportunity to show their best- whilst relaxing in an informal setting with delicious food and fantastic company!”, says Christo le Riche, Chairman of the Stellenbosch Cabernet Collective. “We have such a special terroir in Stellenbosch for crafting world-class Cabernets, and many of our wines are achieving international acclaim. We hope that through our combined efforts we can see Stellenbosch Cabernet taking its place amongst the best in the world. Some of the magnums we will be pouring at this lunch have been made especially for this event and will never be seen again if you needed more of a reason to join us”, he continues.
The event kicks off at 12h00 on Saturday 21st March 2020. Tickets cost R950 per person and include live music, a 3-course family-style lunch and a wide variety of fantastic Stellenbosch Cabernet Sauvignons all afternoon. Tickets go on sale on the 03rd December via quicket.co.za and are regrettably limited. Love Stellenbosch, love Cabernet.
